"... with the sacrifice of our pious people and the zealous leadership of the Society for the erection of the Temple of Saint Sava in Vracar, this magnificent temple in Belgrade, Vracar, is erected, where the holy relics of Saint were burnt as a visible and eternal monument of deep gratitude to all our people for their first Archbishop, Teacher, Enlightener, and Reverend of Serbia, the great Comforter of God, Great-apostol, and Saints of the Slavs to Saint Sava..." - His Holiness Patriarch Serbian Gabriel, on the day of the burning of the relics of Saint Sava, May 10, 1939. when sanctifying the foundation of the temple commenced.
The construction of the temple began in 1935.
Original handmade box.
The box is handmade from steamed beech wood in brown shades, stained, varnished and trimmed with surfaces protected by Annie Sloan wax.
The casting of the lid is cast in a handmade mold. The process of making and processing the casting is adapted to the rustic souvenir look.
The souvenir and the mold are the works of Dragan Vujnovic.
