Shroud (Epitaphios) is a canvas with embroidered or painted Christ immediately after the removal from the Cross. There is a representation of the removal from the Cross and laying it in the tomb, and there is also the representation of the Holy Mother, Joseph, Nicodemus and the evangelist John. Shroud is presented during the chanting of the verses on the evening service of the Great Friday and is always laid with the Gospel in the middle of the temple on a special table.
