Palm Sunday is movable Christian holiday which celebrates Christ's entrance into Jerusalem. It always falls on Sunday, the day after Lazarus' Saturday, and a week before Easter. Established in Jerusalem at the end of the 4th century, to remember the last, imperial and ceremonial entrance of Jesus Christ into the holy city of Jerusalem, and the last week of his life.
It is celebrated in all Christian countries, with a slight difference in customs. Evangelists recorded that Jesus rode into town on a donkey, and at the gates of the city was greeted with flowers and palm leaves, which people threw at his feet. Because of the cold climate in all European countries (except Spain and Malta), the growth of the palms is impossible, people wear a boxwood, yew, willow or olive twigs on this day in the church. Among Orthodox Palm Sunday apply for one of the most joyous holidays.
