Gusle - a single-stringed instrument used by the Slavic peoples in the Balkans and in the Dinarides region, often played with a bow and used to accompany epic poems or legends.
Gusle are made of mountain maple. At the top of the gusle is a Serbian double-headed eagle with 4S. On the front of the neck, there are two crosses, a trefoil and a flower, and just below it, a tile in a frame with the image of Patriarch Pavle. On the bottom is a round frame with the image of Saint Nicholas.
Gusle have a nylon string, and the bow has a horsetail string, and in that combination the fiddle gives the highest quality sound.

Gusle are lacquered with shellac varnish-natural resin dissolved in alcohol.
