When we say the women's folk costume of the Bosilegrad Territory, we first think of a black dress called saja. Saja is a black dress with a specific cut and short sleeves. The hand embroidery with gold shawl extends from the sleeves all the way to the hand-woven belt. The dress on the chest is further embellished. Saja can also be white (picture 2).
Below the belt and across saja is a hand-woven apron that is fringed with black edges. Below saja is a white dress, and the women's Bosilegrad folk costume is specific in that the headscarf that the girls wear is hand-knitted and is paired with a plastron (bib) and sleeves. Handkerchiefs and aprons are made in different colors. The socks are red.
