Nova saznanja koja se tiču nastanka pojma „Stara Srbija“ i njegov razvitak i upotreba sredinom XIX veka i rad na ostvarenju ciljeva nacionalne politike, definisanih „Načertanijem“ Ilije Garašanina, u Staroj Srbiji od 1849. do 1851. godine.
Jagodić zastupa stav da je većina planova bila osnovana na principu istorijskog prava, koje je kontekstualizovao analizirajući onovremena znanja o prošlosti Srbije. Autor je uspešno iskoristio raspoložive izvore za utvrđivanje postojanja ili nepostojanja etničkog identiteta, istorijske i nacionalne svesti hrišćanskog stanovništva Stare Srbije i potkrepio zaključke autentičnim primerima.
