The Nikolje Monastery is located in the village of Rošci near Ovčar Banja, in the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge at the foot of Kablar Mountain. The Monastery of Nikolje is one of the most important Ovcar-Kablar monasteries - also called Serbian Holy Mountain.
Based on its architectural features, it is believed to date from the Middle Ages, most probably from the late 15th and early 16th centuries, respectively.
Throughout history, the monastery has suffered from the Turks. Milos Obrenovic and his family, who had been hiding from the Turks with the people, also found refuge in the monastery. In 1817, Milos Obrenovic built a konak, which is still called after him. He later donated to the monastery a water mill in Prijevor and some land.
