Moraca Monastery is one of the most monumental Serbian medieval monuments of Montenegro. It was erected on the right bank of the Moraca River, in the extended part of the canyon, on the natural plateau of the picturesque landscape, in the Municipality of Kolašin. Below the Moraca Monastery is the Svetigor Waterfall, which creates a nearby stream that flows into the Morača River.
The Temple of Moraca was erected in 1252 by Stefan, son of King Vukan and grandson of Nemanja, which is mentioned in an inscription on the lintel of the Western Portal.
The monastery complex consists of the cathedral church of the Assumption of the Virgin, the small church of St. Nicholas and the konak buildings. The port of the monastery is surrounded by a high wall with two gates.
