Saint Elijah the Thunderer, holy prophet Elijah. A seer of God, a miracle worker, a zealot of the faith of God, Saint Elijah was born in the tribe of Aaron from the city of Tesvita, which is why he was nicknamed Tesvicanin. Saint Elijah the Thunderer is considered one of the greatest prophets in Christianity. He spent his youth in prayers in the desert. He was persecuted for accurately predicting events, especially by King Ahab of Israel and his wicked wife Jezebel.
It was named after the Old Slavic god Perun, the god of thunder. It is believed that by converting to Christianity, the Serbian people attributed the characteristics of the old god Perun, who ruled with lightning and thunder, to Saint Elijah.
Saint Elijah the Thunderer is one of the most respected saints among Serbs. Due to that, a large number of customs and beliefs date back to pre-Christian times, and the prophet Elijah is also called "the Thunderer".
